The zoo! (And not just our house!)

Since Miles was born Bryan and I have eagerly awaited the day we thought he could enjoy the zoo.  Although I am against keeping animals in such small areas, I knew it would be fun to take Miles.  Bryan used lines like 'at least they aren't hunted here' to keep me motivated.  Anyway, last weekend was our chance! The weather was beautiful, Bryan was off work, and Miles is starting to notice and interact with his environment more every day.  When we pulled up to the zoo we realized we weren't the only ones with the same idea for Saturday.  As we made our way into the second to last spot in the overflow parking lot we knew it would be crowded.  But once we got into the zoo none of us minded!

Miles rode happily in his stroller and Bryan and I navigated our way to the big animals we knew Miles could see.  Probably the highlight of the trip was watching a giraffe eat a piece of lettuce out of a child's hand standing right next to us!  The sweet little girl offered Miles a leaf to feed, but I hadn't read and studied the habits and diseases of giraffes so we declined (I am only partially kidding...) But Miles got to touch the giraffe and all of the kids were squealing with joy.  I am not sure who loved it more, Miles or us, but it was a fun time for all!  Miles also enjoyed watching the monkeys, goats, pigs, elephants, and flamingos!

About halway through, Miles decided he had seen enough.  He crashed hard!

Speaking of sleeping, Miles has slept through the night all week!  Although his wake up time is a bit early for me...he is up and ready to go around 6 am.  I am not.  But, I am proud of him for going all night!  Sometimes Bryan and I wake up, look at each other and wonder where we are and what has happened?!  It feels pretty good to sleep without getting up in the middle of the night!  I hope it continues!
This past week our nanny, Amy, was out of town.  It was a little stressful, but thanks to friends I was able to get to work on Monday.  Elizabeth and Wilder came through in a clutch!

The rest of the week was fun and busy.  We made it through bible study with minimal tears, I attended my first book club meeting Tuesday, and we joined the Opies at Gallardia Wednesday night for family seafood buffet.

Bryan has been busy on internal medicine and had to take call his first night!  We are looking forward to the weekend and having my sister, Tiffany, visit.  We have decided to do some pinterest crafting to keep us from shopping too much!  I hope everyone has a great weekend! Here are some pictures from the week. It was so beautiful here...80 degrees yesterday!!! xoxo
